Western Leader chief reporter Justin Latif visited Fiji to see how funds raised by west Aucklander's for flood victims of the December 2008 flooding had been used. In his travels around Fiji he also ran into a number of well known rugby players.

Maggie Tait from the New Zealand Press Association travelled with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key to cover his first visit to Papua New Guinea for a Special Leaders Meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum and then onto the Solomon Islands to visit New Zealanders serving in the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).
Deputy Chief Reporter, Martin Tiffany visited the Cook Islands to meet a Kiwi journalist who has taken up residence in the tropical paradise and report on how the economy was doing in one of the most popular holiday destinations for New Zealanders.
