To promote greater awareness of the Pacific Region through more in depth reporting of Pacific issues in the New Zealand media. PCF will increase New Zealanders knowledge of the Pacific by:

• Sponsoring New Zealand journalists to Pacific Island countries to enhance in depth responsible reporting of Pacific Issues.
• Engaging Pacific media organisations and Pacific Island journalists and helping to strengthen relevant capabilities in the media in both the Pacific and New Zealand.
• Encouraging excellence in Pacific reporting.
• Being the centre of information and a forum for the exchange of views about issues affecting New Zealand and the other countries and peoples (Tangata Pasifika) of the islands of the Pacific Ocean.
• Promoting increased awareness by New Zealanders of Pacific Islands’ and Pacific Peoples’ issues and aspirations.
• Strengthening the capacity of Pacific media organisations.
