PACIFIC AGRICULTURAL TRADERS HANDBOOK

PATH: www.path2nz.com

The Pacific Agricultural Traders Handbook (PATH) is the first online training tool for Pacific Agricultural Traders.

The handbook recongnises that agricultural produce is still the main source of export from the Pacific and aims to facilitate trade in agriculture by providing traders with a centralised resource with detailed information on accessing the New Zealand market.

It provides practical user-friendly information, based on evidence and best practice, from both published and unpublished sources including tips from several New Zealand importers who are regularly dealing with successful agricultural traders from the Pacific.

It identifies a list of the main commodities that are being exported into New Zealand from seven countries in the Pacific that are supplying the largest share of agricultural exports. The information also includes tips on new and emerging areas and value added products, as well as links to other relevant New Zealand and regional agency websites for more in-depth technical information.

PATH is a joint venture project by the Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF) and the Pacific Islands Trade & Investment Commission (PITIC NZ).

PATH aims to reduce the trade imbalance between New Zealand and the Pacific and compliments a training DVD recently produced by PITIC and the sub-regional office of the United Nations Food & Agricultural Organisations (FAO), based in Samoa.
