Samoa to host the next CHOGM

The 2022 CHOGM in Rawanda closed with the announcement that the next chosen venue country for 2024 would be Samoa. This is the first time that a Pacific  member country has been chosen to host this important event. 

Starting in 1971, CHOGM is the name given to the meeting held every two years - the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.  

During the week-long gathering in Rawanda, Commonwealth heads of state discussed democracy, Peace, and Governance; Sustainable and Inclusive Development; Post-COVID-19 recovery, climate crisis, new members and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Secretariat. 

The Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa was accompanied by Mrs Peseta Noumea Simi, CEO Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Agafili Shem Leo, CEO Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Francella Strickland, Ambassador of Samoa to Belgium and Mr Vani Vai, ADC.
