Auckland in a State of Emergency
Auckland is reeling from severe flooding after being battered by heavy rains, with parts of the city still submerged. A local state of emergency has been declared, and a Civil Defence Centre has been set up in West Auckland.
Why Rotuman is a unique Pacific language
Rotuman Language Week is celebrated every year, and the focus is on promoting Rotuman language and culture. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration was virtual, and activities and programs were launched through the internet to reach as many people as possible. The event culminated in the worldwide Rotuma Day celebrations on May 13.

New documentary series highlights realities of Pacific seasonal workers

PMPYA: PCF International Scholar Award Winner
The Prime Minister’s Pacific Youth Awards 2022 featured an incredible group of young Pacific people recognised for excelling in their chosen fields. PCF are the sponsors of the International Scholar Award which recognises a young person who epitomises the strong positive relationship between Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific Islands through their leadership, community service (both Aotearoa New Zealand and Pacific home nation) and academic performance.
PCF Launches first Pacific Perceptions Report
Pacific Cooperation Foundation has launched the first Pacific Perceptions Report in New Zealand. Commissioned by PCF and conducted by Kantar, the report called ‘New Zealanders’ Perceptions of the Pacific’ focuses on attitudes and feelings towards and about Pacific peoples in New Zealand.
